School visit by Barton

AN interesting article in Carlisle's News and Star about the school visit undertaken by Joey Barton yesterday.

Although much of the news has been about Barton finally signing a new deal, he seems to have matured as a person and it's good to see him giving something back.

Joey to end stand off

JOEY Barton is keen to see an end to the contract dispute with City and it looks as though he may sign a deal by the end of the week.

After facing criticism from fans, and many in the media, Barton has said he is prepared to negotiate a deal.

He accepts the situation got out of control and he hopes City fans will forgive and forget,  giving him a chance to concentrate on forthcoming matches.

Glassbadge1708_6ALTHOUGH the boo-boys targeted Joey Barton, it was Newcastle manager Graeme Souness who lost his head as this defeat saw his departure from St James’s Park.

A woeful display from the Magpies, whose only attempt on target was a free-kick from Emre easily gathered by David James, saw City stroll through one of the poorest Newcastle teams ever to wear the famous black and white.

Barton wants out

JOEY Barton has handed in a transfer request despite Stuart Pearce being keen to keep the midfielder at City.

Barton had been offered a new contract and was in talks with the club but it would appear he has turned the new deal down.

City draw Villa

CITY have drawn Aston Villa away in the fifth round of the FA Cup and the game will be played over the weekend of February 18 - 19.

UPDATE: The game will take place on Sunday, February 19 in front of the BBC cameras meaning a 6.30pm kick-off.
