Sunderland 2 – 1 Man City

Premtable2408MANCHESTER City are top of the league. I know it’s only after three games and by the close of play tonight we could have been knocked off, but it’s good to be able to write it.

A 2 – 1 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light last night saw our unbeaten run stretch to 11 games and confirmed it as out best run since 1977.

Darrius Vassell opened his City account with a cheeky toe-poke after 10 minutes and then Trevor Sinclair doubled the advantage with a sweetly struck shot from the edge of the box.

But on the stroke of half time Sunderland got a goal from Anthony Le Tallec who got on the end of a corner, to set the game up nicely.

However, there were no further goals and it must be said that Sunderland played the better football and either a draw or maybe even a home win would have been a fairer result.

Stuart Pearce admitted in the post match interviews that he thought Sunderland should have won and that one of the positives to come out of the game was that the players were disappointed by their performance.

I only saw the match on Sky last night and thought we looked strong going forward with plenty of movement from Cole and Vassell, still have my doubts about Mills though.

And for the first time ever I got a prediction right!

I’m not going to give marks out of ten as I didn’t see the whole game.
