Man Utd 1 – 1 Man City

Glassbadge1708_3BY the sounds of the radio report it was a hard fought point but deserved and it is great to see the unbeaten run continuing.

And I just get the feeling that as opposed to times gone by when we would have been happy to put a spanner in the works of United, today we got a lot more out of the draw.

It feels more like ‘win at home and draw away and the season will go from strength to strength’.

That’s not to say I wasn’t a bit edgy as the clock ticked down but it sounded a lot less frantic than in times past when the score has been all square, did I detect an element of confidence and composure?

As for the game the Reds scored on the stroke of half time after van Nistelrooy reacted quickest to a David James stop.

But as the second half progressed City came more into the game and on 75 minutes Joey Barton turned in a Vassell shot to bring a smile to the blue side of Manchester.

And then at the death Cole almost snatched a winner as he met Trevor Sinclair’s cross with a sweetly struck shot, but Van der Sar pulled off a fine save.

Nice to see Ferguson getting a touch bitter in his old age saying ‘they didn't deserve what they got, but that's football’.

But the best comment must go to Stuart Pearce who was asked what he said to Ryan Giggs when the winger came on as a second half substitute, check out the video interview…
