Newcastle 1 – 0 City
A DISAPPOINTING week for the Blues came to an end with defeat at St James’ Park thanks to a Michael Owen goal in the first half.
After being put through the mill against Bolton, becoming giant killing victims at Doncaster, City slipped to a 1 – 0 defeat against Newcastle.
Not surprisingly City played like a team looking for the exit in the opening 45 minutes, with Sibierski missing a good chance before Owen’s strike.
His goal for the Magpies came from a short ball played between Dunne and Distin that the striker ran on to before slipping it past the right hand of James.
Although in the second half the Blues came out and looked much better, they were unable to manufacture a clear chance and ended the week with three defeats.
What is disappointing at the moment is that we have scored just once in these three games, Vassell’s penalty against Doncaster, and with just him and Sibierski available up front the squad’s lack of depth is already beginning to show.
Next Sunday sees the Blues face Everton at the City of Manchester Stadium and hopefully a few of the players’ frustrations will be worked off against the struggling Toffees.
Oh yes, and remember kick off is 11.15am – thanks Sky.
