Anelka and troubles in France
THERE is a very interesting article from The Guardian that highlights the fact that former Blue Nicolas Anelka comes from close to the area that sparked the riots in France.
The piece says that Anelka grew up in an area that suffered from 'a lot of unemployment, a certain amount of drugs, a lot of angry people, a lot of small crime'.
Although Anelka's time with City ended on a sour note there was no denying his talent, ability and scoring prowess.
It would be good to see him win a place in the French national side and off the field establish himself as a role model for millions of others struggling to escape les banlieus.
