Greek signs for Blues

CITY are to sign Greek striker Georgios Samaras in a £6m deal.

The move will see the 20-year-old arrive at City on a four and a half year deal following a medical.

The departure of Robbie Fowler yesterday left the Blues seriously short of options up front and if all the talk is to be believed then Samaras has a bright future ahead of him.

Here's hoping he is unveiled before this Wednesday's game against Newcastle.

Greek striker set to sign

CITY look set to splash out £4.8 million on 20-year-old Greek striker Georgios Samaras from Dutch side Heerenveen.

He has scored seven goals this season and at 6ft 3in could add a bit of an aerial punch up front.

And whilst browsing around the internet I noticed the US Soccer Players site features a piece on the antics of Stuart Pearce. They love him.

Man City 3 – 1 Man United

Stuartpearce0309_2MANCHESTER City shook off their recent poor form to crush United in the 145th derby at the City of Manchester stadium.

A 3 – 1 victory, with goals from Trevor Sinclair, Darius Vassell and a last-minute stunner from Robbie Fowler meant the fans were singing the Blues as they headed home.

Don’t just take my word for it

Thisiscityflare1708_6IF you are a keen follower of City then why not take a look around a few of the other blogs covering the Blues?

One to check out is Bitter and Blue that covers news from City but has also developed a strong connection with fanzines and bloggers of other clubs.

Another keen Blue is Gavin Cooper who follows the reserves and academy, keeping an eye on the crop of youngsters we have and the growing reputation that side of the club is gaining.

And if you want to dive in to all manner of factoids then the MCFC Stats website is the place to go.

Jansen fails to show; winger watch

Skewbadge1708_5SOME strange things happen in the world of City. Today Matt Jensen was set to train with the Blues but he didn’t turn up.

The striker, who has been released by Blackburn Rovers, was invited by Stuart Pearce but failed to turn up.

Mills told to wait

DOCTORS have told Danny Mills that he will be out of action until the end of February, despite him being fit enough to train.

Mills was discovered to have a broken shin in November despite the fact that the break is believed to have occurred earlier in the season.

Also City have been linked with the Blackburn Rovers’ striker Matt Jansen who has played just 13 Premiership matches since a motorcycle accident in 2002.

Sommeil out for three games

DAVID Sommeil has been hit with a three-match ban after his tackle on Tottenham's Lee Young-Pyo was deemed violent conduct.

He will miss Premiership games against Manchester United and Bolton and an FA Cup clash with Wigan or Leeds.

The referee during the game against Spurs did not see the tackle as he was running towards another incident, but the FA deemed Sommeil’s offence dangerous and banned him for three matches.

Nedum surprised at Liverpool link

AFTER a confident display against an admittedly poor Birmingham City, young defender Nedum Onuoha has said he is flattered to be linked with a move to Liverpool.

The 19-year-old academy star has said he is happy at the Blues and was a little surprised to see reports saying he was being watched by the European champions.

Haapala offered deal by Blues

STUART Pearce has been impressed enough by what he has seen of Finnish international Tuomas Haapala that he has offered him a contract.

Pearce told the City website: "He fitted in very well with the players and he was a good man to have around the place."
